Hi My Name is Ali Andrew Shakoor
I am the author of "For Black Men Trying to Survive and Thrive in America." https://www.amazon.com/Black-Trying-Survive-Thrive-America/dp/1797662694 I am a criminal defense attorney. In 2003, I received my law degree with honors from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. In 1996, I received a B.A. degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University. My minors were Black Studies and Women's Studies. This is my first book. I published it myself in 2019. I am sharing my advice and life experience so that I can help Black boys and men. But my book is beneficial for any race of men and boys, fathers and sons, who want to become successful. I have seen a lot of tragic situations that could have been prevented. My entire legal career has been devoted to criminal defense; first as a public defender for three years, and for the last fourteen years to eventually leading a great team of attorneys representing indigent clients on death row in the State of florida. It is rewarding work and sobering. I do not have children, but I am close to my niece and nephew. I have also mentored teens through the Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Tampa. I love sports, music, and being actively involved with programs that improve my community. My book consists of ten chapters. They are ideal for our PosiPower website: 1. You Deserve a Great Life 2. Understanding Our Predicament 3. Loving Our Country 4. Become Politically Active 5. Beware of Demons 6. Avoid the Trap of Anger and Hostility 7. Education and Career Choices 8. Seek Positive Relationships 9. Understanding the Law 10.
